Fundamentals of Photography: Northshore

Learn the fundamental techniques, tips and secrets to better photography in this hands-on course taught by Pulitzer Prize winning photographer Ted Jackson. Our new meeting space will allow us to remain socially distanced. All safety protocols will be in place. The eight-week series will run from Monday, February 15, 2021 through April 5, 2021. The instruction is specifically designed for people who want to get beyond the basic point-and-shoot mindset. Whether you’re interested in family portraits, sports, wildlife or landscapes, we’ll cover it all. In a matter of weeks, you’ll join the 5% of camera owners who actually know how to use the controls. More importantly, I’ll teach you to “see” the pictures that most people miss. To get the most out of the class, you’ll need a digital SLR camera – or mirrorless camera with manual controls. Smartphone users are welcome too, but much of the instruction will be beyond the smartphone’s capability. We’ll meet once a week for eight weeks in the conference room at The Fleur De Lis Event Center in Mandeville, Louisiana. Please know that I need at least 10 commitments to make the class viable, limited to the first 15 to sign up. The class is limited to ages 15 and up unless otherwise considered. The class will focus on instruction, demonstrations, assignments and most importantly, critique. Each member will have the opportunity to join the program's Chasing the Light Legacy Club to keep up with current and former class members progress. ***PLEASE NOTE: Since I’m a working photojournalist, a class session may be postponed due to MAJOR breaking news. If this should occur, classes will be extended in order to complete the 8-week series.
